Katz & Associates has announced the hiring of a new broker to focus on investment sales in New York, New Jersey and Florida.

The Englewood-based firm on Tuesday said John Heretakis has joined its ranks as an associate in its New York office. He previously held a position at Sovereign Realty Group LLC, where he focused on net leased properties, and has been working in commercial real estate for the past five years.
In the new role, he will also look to be involved in tenant and landlord leasing in Long Island, Manhattan and the outer boroughs.
“John’s knowledge, experience, intuition and drive make him a valuable asset when finding specific, off-market opportunities for developers and investors alike,” Katz & Associates said in its announcement. “John understands the importance of adding value, and can assist with all facets of the transaction: site location, contract negotiations and budgeting.”
Heretakis recently secured an underutilized property for a second-generation auto dealer, the firm said, noting that the site is now being turned into a modern dealership for more than 150 cars with a large indoor showroom. The deal involved him locating the off-market site, negotiating the lease and helping coordinate the removal of existing tenants and construction.
With a bachelor’s in finance from Adelphi University, Heretakis is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Young Real Estate Professionals of New York and Commercial Industrial Brokers Society. He is a licensed real estate salesperson in New York.
