NAIOP has recognized a senior project scientist with Langan Engineering & Environmental Services as a recipient of its 2023 Developing Leaders Award.
Andrew Chun, who is based in Langan’s Princeton office, specializes in providing environmental engineering services for development projects in the residential, commercial, industrial and higher education sectors. He is one of only five industry professionals nationwide this year to receive the honor recognizing exceptional young professionals for their outstanding accomplishments, strong leadership and significant community involvement, all of whom will be highlighted next month during the organization’s annual CRE.Converge 2023 conference.
“This prestigious award shines a light on our industry’s diversity and the exceptional caliber of this next generation of leaders,” NAIOP New Jersey CEO Dan Kennedy said. “Andrew has an exceptional ability to leverage strong communication skills and personal relationships to solve problems and create opportunities, and he is dedicated to sharing these strategies with his colleagues to help them advance their careers. There is no doubt he is deserving of this singular recognition and will be making a difference in the real estate community for many years to come.”
The association noted that Chun, as co-creator of Young Professionals@Langan, has helped promote a culture of knowledge sharing and skills development among his co-workers as they grow their careers, according to a news release. He brings the same approach to his role as co-chair of NAIOP New Jersey’s Developing Leaders Committee, where he aims to help members connect, communicate and advocate for themselves, having also launched a pilot mentoring initiative.
“I am grateful to be recognized by NAIOP and thrilled to represent our chapter and the great work we do,” Chun said. “Dan has a passion for this type of professional development, and it is exciting to work with him and his team to make things happen.”
He added: “My co-nominees are truly impressive, and I look forward to meeting and learning from folks from other markets who are at the same level in their careers. I hope we can find ways to collaborate as we advance in the industry together.”
Established in 2006, the Developing Leaders Award is given to up-and-coming professionals under age 35 from across NAIOP’s national chapter network, the news release said.
“NAIOP has a long, respected history of mentoring the next generation of CRE leadership on a national scale, and the recognition of Andrew’s outstanding skills and accomplishments is quite an honor,” said Mark Shearer, NAIOP New Jersey’s president. “Identifying young professionals and supporting them in building their real estate careers is critical to the future of our industry, and NAIOP NJ is committed to providing tools, networking and resources to help foster their growth.”
