Lennar Corp. has cut the ribbon on 103 condominium units in Weehawken, adding to its footprint in the master-planned Port Imperial development.
The property at 1200 Avenue at Port Imperial is the second phase of Lennar’s Avenue Collection, which sits along the Hudson River and features a full slate of amenities. Through mid-June, more than a third of the homes had been sold as part of an initial launch.
At a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner touted the project and the success of the larger Port Imperial redevelopment effort along the state’s Hudson waterfront.
“When we started this process, this was totally vacant land,” Turner said. “We had some piers and some old rusting buildings left. Over the years, a lot of people spent a lot of time to bring us to where we are today. And what you see is a total transformation of the waterfront.”
Sitting along the Hudson River facing midtown Manhattan, 1200 Avenue at Port Imperial is the second building to open within Lennar’s upscale Avenue Collection, according to a news release. The initial offering, the 74-unit 1000 Avenue at Port Imperial, sold out last year, attracting residents with high-end finishes and amenities such as a grand salon lobby, children’s playroom and a seventh-floor social room.
“We’re delighted to stand here today and officially unveil 1200 Avenue at Port Imperial,” said Craig Klingensmith, division president of Lennar Northeast. “The completed property ushers in a new era of modern architectural design, superior amenities and services and stylish living spaces that is fulfilling our vision of transforming one of the most scenic stretches of waterfront property into a boutique, waterfront lifestyle experience unlike any other in the marketplace.”
The waterfront project was designed by Manhattan-based architect Handel Architects LLP.
One- to three-bedroom residences with 887 to 3,139 square feet of living space are available at prices starting from $759,000, the news release said. Most residences feature private outdoor space ranging as much as 1,036 square feet.
