Advance Realty has installed a real-time display of mass transit options at One Gateway Center in Newark, the landlord said, part of an effort to use technology to enhance the 26-story office building.
The Bridgewater-based real estate firm said Monday that the tower now features TransitScreen, which provides tenants with information from NJ Transit rail and bus lines, Amtrak, Zipcar and Uber. The display, which appears on a 40-inch high-definition screen in One Gateway’s newly modernized lobby, also has walk times to stations.
“Throughout our portfolio, we strive to provide tenants with the latest technologies that make their employees’ lives easier,” Rick Zack, Advance Realty’s managing director of property management, said in a prepared statement. “One Gateway Center’s location in the heart of downtown Newark, across from Penn Station, calls for a state-of-the-art transportation display like TransitScreen.
“Thanks to the building’s skywalk connection to Penn Station, tenants have the ability to get anywhere in the world without stepping outside, and this technology will only enhance that level of convenience.”
The Class A property is part of Newark’s four-building Gateway complex, which was built around giving tenants direct access to Newark Penn Station. One Gateway is connected to the enclosed pedestrian walkway system that feeds into the transit hub.
In a separate statement, TransitScreen National Accounts Manager Jay Tedino added: “The installation at Advance Realty’s One Gateway Center resonates with Mayor (Ras) Baraka’s challenge to the private sector to further the city’s mission of becoming ‘Newark 3.0’ — a Smart City embracing technologies of the future.”
