A tenant at a Flanders commercial building has signed a lease for nearly 36,000 square feet, in a transaction by a Newmark Associates broker who recently celebrated a milestone.
Bill Cunningham, a vice president with the Cedar Knolls-based firm, represented both parties in the recent lease at 2 Laurel Drive. The 35,700-square-foot deal earned recognition as a top industrial lease during Newmark’s recent annual awards luncheon, while the firm also celebrated Cunningham’s 90th birthday at a gala cocktail party.
“You have redefined what a fulfilling, successful and loving life looks like regardless of age,” Susanne Newmark, the firm’s founder and president, told Cunningham during the recent celebration. “A consummate gentleman, you are an extraordinary businessman and colleague with whom I proudly share my days at the office.”
Cunningham, who has spent 28 years at Newmark Associates, specializes in industrial leasing and sales. He is also a Marine veteran of the Korean War and a 30-year member of the Morristown Rotary, where he served many years on the board of directors and a term as club president.
The firm added that he has been married to Pat Cunningham for 60 years, also highlighting their three children and six grandchildren. According to a news release, both he and Pat were given awards at Newmark’s annual awards luncheon in consecutive years for embodying key company values of integrity and professionalism.
Colleagues, meantime, shared their admiration and deep respect for Cunningham’s professionalism, work ethic, integrity, honesty and genuine caring for fellow human beings, in and outside of the workplace, the news release said. In turn, Cunningham reflected on the company culture at Newmark.
“The very supportive management style makes Newmark Associates the perfect place for me,” Cunningham said. “So I never plan to retire.”
