The New Jersey Apartment Association has earned national recognition for its work in the Garden State, including a prestigious top honor for its executive director.
David Brogan, who joined the NJAA in 2014, was named Association Executive of the Year by the National Apartment Association. Selected from more than 170 local affiliates across the nation, Brogan was picked as the national winner due to his leadership, strategic vision and accomplishments over the last year.
He was nominated by NJAA’s president, Lynne Aber, the group said in a news release. The nomination also included letters of support from leading business trade groups, legislators and colleagues.
“It was truly my honor to nominate David for the award,” Aber said. “Since his arrival at NJAA, he’s taken our organization to new levels. Over the last three years, NJAA has become a leading advocate for the apartment industry in Trenton, shattered membership records, further professionalized our industry with an expanded education program and grew our annual conference and expo to new heights.”
Brogan received the award earlier this month at the national association’s education conference in Atlanta. The program also recognized the NJAA, whose membership owns and manages more than 200,000 apartments, for its advocacy on behalf of the multifamily industry with the Excellence Award for Government Affairs.
The news release said NJAA distinguished itself for its ability to lead coalitions of business and industry organizations toward a shared advocacy goal and achieve legislative and regulatory successes with efficiency and innovation.
Earlier this year, NJAA also received a Communicator Award of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts for the September/October 2016 issue of Apartment Industry Magazine, the news release said. The Communicator Awards contest is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence in communications in the nation.
NJAA’s Apartment Industry Magazine also received a 2017 Award of Excellence from the Apex Awards for Publication Excellence contest.
