A global real estate manager has unveiled plans to modernize a two-building, 440,000-square-foot office complex in the Princeton Forrestal Center campus.
The landlord, Nuveen Real Estate, said its renovation of 600 and 650 College Road in Plainsboro will include overhauling lobbies and common areas, plus the addition of new seating and gathering spaces for tenants. The company and its design team with Ware Malcomb will do so with an eye toward promoting flexibility and adapting to employers’ changing needs, while still capitalizing on the property’s location along Route 1.
In a news release, Nuveen noted that the buildings were constructed in 1983 and 1999.
“We are always seeking ways to develop exceptional spaces for our tenants and differentiate our properties,” said Ines Olesen, director of New York investments at Nuveen Real Estate. “How people view and utilize the office has changed drastically over the past year and our renovations at Princeton Point are being done with those changes in mind. As we look to the future, we are thrilled to partner with the architects at Ware Malcomb to reinvigorate office life and provide our tenants with hospitality-driven work environments that foster flexibility and productivity.”

At 600 College Road, the design team is creating a lobby area directly beneath the three-story atrium to establish a centrally positioned, fresh focal point, the news release said. At 650, the aesthetic will fuse lighter woods with oak tones and accentuate the existing pink stone in the space, while newly added green walls made of preserved moss will promote occupant well-being and create a connection to the trails outside.
“Ware Malcomb is proud to be part of the Princeton Point campus revitalization,” said Marlyn Zucosky, director, interior architecture and design at Ware Malcomb. “Our designs focus on maximizing the long-term real estate value of the office properties and creating a desirable campus environment to attract new occupants and enhance the existing tenant experience.”
The firms detailed additional changes such as redesigned tenant cafés with expanded outdoor seating and built-in booths that will double as mini conference rooms or breakout spaces. The refreshed café areas will be available throughout the day for overflow conference seating and impromptu meetings, the news release said, serving as multifunctional space for tenants and guests throughout the day.
Located within the master-planned, 2,000-acre business and research campus known as Princeton Forrestal Center, the property is home to tenants such as State Street Bank, BT Americas, RCN/Patriot Media and Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr. The complex is currently 75 percent leased.
