A longtime general counsel for area developers has joined Sills Cummis & Gross P.C. as the latest member of its real estate department.
The law firm on Tuesday announced the hiring of Debbie Kramer Gregg, who comes to the practice with 25 years as an in-house attorney for multistate builders. The Newark-based firm highlighted her experience in all aspects of development, including due diligence for approvals, environmental and title issues, acquisition of existing and undeveloped projects, securing entitlements and financing.
Sills Cummis also said her general counsel experience gives her “a unique understanding of the business and legal issues inherent in real estate development.”
Gregg also focuses on commercial, residential and mixed-use condominium development, including creation of shopping center and office building condominiums, the firm said in a news release. Her experience includes registration of residential projects with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and representation of developers during transition from developer to homeowner control.
She represents clients in institutional and private equity financing, including acquisition, construction and permanent financing, the news release said. She has also represented developers negotiating workouts for distressed projects and has served as a custodial receiver and asset manager for institutional lenders to preserve and create value for failed projects.
Gregg received her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and her bachelor’s from Pennsylvania State University. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey.
