Billionaire investor Carl Icahn has made another real estate move in Atlantic City, reportedly purchasing the debt to the nongaming Boardwalk hotel known as The Chelsea.
That’s according to a published report Monday that said that Icahn’s firm has taken over the mortgage at the property. The story by NJ Advance Media cites documents filed with the Atlantic County Clerk.
The move comes less than three months after Icahn sold the former Trump Taj Mahal to a group led by Hard Rock International and the Morris and Jingoli families, which plans to reopen the property as a Hard Rock casino and hotel. Icahn also owns the Tropicana Casino & Resort, which sits next door to the Chelsea.
