Kokes Properties recently welcomed a group of Rowan University students to the site of its new 190-unit multifamily development in Burlington County.
Led by Daniel Bottiglieri, the Rowan Real Estate Group is made up of entrepreneurial undergraduates who aspire to become industry leaders. Its activities include visiting sites such as The Mill at Riverside, a project that is redeveloping a historic property on South Fairview Street in the township, where Kokes broke ground in late 2020.
“Experiencing the development process firsthand offers unparalleled educational benefits to our students that can’t be replicated in a classroom,” said Elisabeth Brook Parker, an employer relations associate for Rowan’s Center of Professional Development. “It really is invaluable.”
The developer noted that, on the tour, students were able to ask questions and witness the various stages of large-scale housing construction.
“Prior to COVID, I always took great pride in meeting and speaking with undergraduate and vocational students with various backgrounds who shared my passion for real estate,” said Michael J. Kokes, president of Kokes Properties. “After two years of health restrictions inhibiting these kinds of social gatherings, it was wonderful to interact with Rowan’s bright and engaging young minds, who not only impressed me with their thoughtful questions but also with their eagerness to learn more about development.
“For an industry that has been severely hampered by an ongoing labor shortage, the importance of mentorship and student outreach cannot be understated,” he added. “The young men and women of RREG have a tremendous opportunity to carry our industry’s torch in the future, and it is incumbent upon me and other real estate professionals to ensure that we do our part today to position them for success tomorrow so that our industry may continue to thrive.”
