Russo Development is hailing continued success in Kearny, having leased 20 percent of its latest luxury apartment complex in the municipality.
The developer announced this week that the first of more than 40 residents have begun moving into Vermella East, a 268-unit property at 60 Passaic Ave. The complex is Russo’s third multifamily project in the town, offering upscale amenities and a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units with rents starting in the mid-$1,700s.
“Our Kearny communities are very appealing to people who might have once considered renting in New York City or Jersey City as here they can get a larger and brand new rental apartment, have more ways to enjoy time spent at the on-site common areas, and access to our expansive outdoor space,” said Adam Pasternack, president of Russo Property Management. “Our strategy to build mid-rise, highly-amenitized buildings in a campus environment long-precedes the COVID-19 quarantine, but is very appealing now that people are looking for their rental dollar to go farther while enjoying a less dense work-from-home-friendly environment.”
The firm, which opened its leasing office at Vermella East in mid-June, touted what it calls a sophisticated industrial aesthetic at the property. The design is evident at amenities such as a clubroom, along with a multilevel fitness center, pool and large outdoor gathering spaces.
Russo also noted that the property is within walking distance of the Kearny Commons retail corridor with ShopRite, BJ’s, Marshalls, LA Fitness, Ulta Beauty, Starbucks, Chipotle and a new urgent care center. Residents have easy access to Interstate 280 and the New Jersey Turnpike, along with private shuttle service to the Harrison PATH station.
“We want everyone who is considering living with us to feel comfortable from the moment they discover us online,” Pasternack added. “We’re committed to Kearny long term and creating a neighborhood through our relationships with town leaders as well as our new residents. We are very excited to further develop the Hudson Pointe sub-market and look forward to growing our roots even deeper.”
