Alfred Sanzari Enterprises and other top family-owned firms in New Jersey took center stage last month as part of an annual program hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Staged by the school’s Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Family Business of the Year Awards highlights enterprises that show a commitment to strong business acumen, active family engagement, innovation and community involvement and commitment to employees and family values, according to a news release. Sanzari, a real estate owner and developer based in Hackensack, was named a finalist for the award during the Oct. 19 program.
It is the third time that the event has honored the multigenerational firm, which has a portfolio of more than 6 million square feet of office, residential, industrial and hospitality space. Founded in 1945, it’s now led by Alfred’s sons, David and Ben, and his grandson, Ryan.
“Being selected as one of New Jersey’s top family businesses is an absolute honor and privilege for us at Alfred Sanzari Enterprises,” said Ryan Sanzari, president of Alfred Sanzari Enterprises. “Since the average lifespan for a family-owned business is 24 years, it is extremely humbling and validating to see all that we’ve accomplished over our 75-plus-year history. The award not only celebrates my grandfather’s work to create a solid foundation for our business but the contributions of the entire Alfred Sanzari Enterprises family of employees, tenants and communities who have ensured our continued success.”
