The STRO Cos. has leased nearly 20,000 square feet of industrial space in Hackensack to a national food distributor, the real estate firm announced Tuesday.
Diaz Foods, which specializes in Hispanic food products, will use the location at 215 South Newman St. as a warehouse and distribution facility. The Atlanta-based company is moving there from another site, STRO said, touting its location adjacent to Route 17 and proximity to Interstate 80.
JLL’s Charlotte Belling and Caroline Eisen represented Diaz Foods in the 19,500-square-foot transaction.
“215 South Newman provides an unmatched opportunity for distribution tenants,” said Elliot Ferris, STRO’s director of leasing, who handled the negotiations. “The property’s proximity to Manhattan and the port markets unlocks tremendous value for tenants like Diaz Foods. This transaction is another example of New Jersey’s importance in the global supply chain.”
Diaz Foods is one of the country’s largest distributors of Hispanic food products, serving more than 6,000 customers in 29 states, STRO said. It will be among several tenants at the 65,677-square-foot building.
“As it continues to expand its national footprint, Diaz Foods was seeking a highly accessible warehouse facility that offered proximity to both its customers and its employees,” Belling said. “215 South Newman Street fulfills both requisites with its location in the heart of the Meadowlands industrial market just seven miles from the George Washington Bridge.”
