TAY Investments has broken ground on a project that will add more than 200 apartments and commercial space to Jersey City’s fast-growing West Side neighborhood.
The firm on Friday welcomed its project team, Mayor Steven Fulop and other local officials to mark the start of construction at 301 West Side Ave., where plans call for a mix of ground-up construction and an adaptive reuse of an existing industrial building. Slated to open in early summer 2026, the 202-unit project would include 20 homes reserved as affordable housing, plus 6,000 square feet of retail space roughly a quarter-mile from Route 440.
“This project represents a significant step forward for the West Side neighborhood,” said Yuval Shram, CEO of TAY Investments. “Our goal is to create a vibrant, inclusive space that blends modern residential living with thoughtfully curated retail and recreational amenities to benefit not just our tenants, but also the surrounding streets and the wider community. This is our fifth project in Jersey City, and we’re proud to execute our vision in this great city. We are especially grateful to Mayor Fulop and Councilwoman (Mira) Prinz-Arey for their unwavering support.”
TAY said the project, designed by AK Architecture, will include an outdoor pool and hot tub, a high-end gym, spa facilities, dry and wet saunas and an ice plunge, among others. It’s also set to include two dedicated rooftop spaces, one for commercial tenants and one for residents, which will have a rooftop bar with views of the city.
Those on hand for Friday’s groundbreaking ceremony also included Prinz-Arey and other guests from the real estate industry and the local community, according to a news release. It comes six months after TAY’s acquisition of the property at the corner of West Side Avenue and Fisk Street, in a deal arranged by IPRG’s Yanni Marmarou.
