Home décor chain World Market is coming to Bergen Town Center in Paramus, where it’s set to lease more than 19,000 square feet under a deal with Urban Edge Properties.
According to the property owner, the new ground-level store will front Route 4 when it opens later this year. It will also mark the company’s first Bergen County location, joining HomeGoods, Marshalls, Burlington and Target as part of the gifts and décor offerings at the 1 million-square-foot shopping destination in Paramus and Maywood.
CBRE’s Jeffrey S. Cohen represented World Market, while Urban Edge’s Leigh Lyons handled the transaction in-house for the real estate investment trust.
“World Market is a terrific tenant to join the gift and home lineup at Bergen Town Center,” Lyons, senior vice president of leasing for Urban Edge. “A popular store of this size will draw new customers to the property where they’ll find many choices and complementary shops.”
Urban Edge noted that World Market began in 1958 near San Francisco’s famed Fisherman’s Wharf, providing a destination for those who craved original and handmade items from around the world. It has since grown into a national chain for artisan goods and handicrafts, international food favorites and design inspiration for furniture and home décor, seeking to provide customers with value and affordability.
Its new space in Paramus will span 19,265 square feet and will be next to the property’s covered parking garage, according to a news release. It joins a tenant roster that also includes Whole Foods and CVS, as well as Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off 5th, Bloomingdale’s Outlet, Kohl’s and Marshalls.
