The longtime general counsel of an area development firm has joined Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC.
The West Orange-based law practice announced Tuesday that it has hired Adriana M. Peters as a member in its real estate, development and land use group. She joins CSG from Lightstone Group, one of the largest privately held real estate management and development companies in the country, marking her return to private practice after nearly two decades.
“CSG offers a robust transaction and commercial leasing platform, a formidable and rapidly expanding roster of attorneys and a first-class client base, which I greatly look forward to serving,” Peters said. “I could not ask for a better place from which to launch this next exciting chapter of my career.”
As Lightstone’s general counsel, Peters was deeply involved with leasing and various transactions across the company’s portfolio, which currently spans more than 6 million square feet of commercial and hospitality assets, CSG said. She also directed legal efforts tied to acquisition, development, disposition, financing and land use on a national scale.
Peters began her career in private practice with a regional firm, before later cofounding a boutique real estate firm and then joining New York-based Lightstone.
CSG noted that Peters’ command of commercial leasing issues across all asset types will serve its clients well as she helps spearhead the firm’s expanding commercial leasing practice on behalf of local, regional and national owners and tenants, according to a news release. The firm also highlighted her experience in development, construction and financing.
“Adriana is an outstanding attorney with the rare combination of legal and practical experience setting her apart as a savvy advocate for owners, developers and tenants in today’s complex real estate market,” said Mitchell S. Berkey, co-chair of CSG’s real estate, development and land use group. “Her multifaceted background will, without question, provide a value-add for our sophisticated clientele, which continues to look to CSG for cutting-edge solutions to gain an edge in an increasingly competitive landscape.”
Peters is a graduate of Villanova University and Hofstra University School of Law. She is licensed to practice in New Jersey and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
