Prism Capital Partners has welcomed a full-service salon and spa to its Avenue & Green project in Woodbridge, providing a new home for one of the township’s best-known businesses.
The operator, Vito Mazza, occupies 3,600 square feet at 10 Green St. after relocating from its prior space on Main Street. Prism noted that the ground-floor retail space at the 232-unit apartment building will house an upgraded salon and spa as well as a hair and scalp wellness center, part of the growing offerings for the 57-year-old business.
“We have evolved into a multifaceted business,” said Ann Mazza, senior vice president. “In fact, the growth of our hair and scalp wellness offering — which accounts for more than half of our business — was a key factor in our search for a new location. We wanted to provide these clients with a dedicated entry. The Prism team was instrumental in helping us create two storefronts at Avenue & Green.”
Located adjacent to the Woodbridge train station, Avenue & Green hit the market in 2021 after a redevelopment project by Nutley-based Prism. Residents benefit from a series of upscale amenities and the property’s 10,500 square feet of street-level retail.
Vito Mazza, a family-owned and -operated business founded by Vito Mazza Sr., has grown to more than 40 team members trained in the latest salon, skincare, massage, nail and makeup services, according to a news release. It’s also one of the few salons in the country to offer extensive hair and scalp wellness services to help men and women address thinning hair and medical hair loss.
Its new space has modern equipment, a dedicated hair color bar and a manicure and pedicure area with digital screens to promote customer relaxation, the news release said. The spa features four large treatment rooms for massage, skincare services and the latest hair removal techniques, while custom wall displays designed to honor the company’s history and the longevity of its staff marry elements of the old and new locations.
It joins a retail tenant roster that includes LeGrand Coffee House, led by Woodbridge native Eric LeGrand, and The UPS Store.
“Vito Mazza has a well-earned reputation for outstanding client service and giving back to the community,” said Robert Fourniadis, Prism’s senior vice president for residential. “We are thrilled they chose Avenue & Green as their new home, maintaining their longtime presence in downtown Woodbridge while enabling us to bring a sought-after service right to our residents’ doorsteps.”
Mazza, meantime, said she and husband Vito Mazza Jr. remain committed to supporting Woodbridge.
“This community is very special to us,” she said, noting that her husband serves as president of the local special improvement district, while she is on the board of directors of the Metro Chamber of Commerce and actively involved with the Women’s Leadership Connection.
“Attracting new housing and retail is better for business overall, and Avenue & Green is the flagship for Woodbridge’s downtown redevelopment,” she said. “We look forward to seeing what the future will bring.”
