Walters has filled a new four-building, 34-unit affordable housing community in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township, the developer announced last week.
According to a news release, the milestone at Cornerstone at Grassy Hollow II follows the property’s completion late last year. The complex at 200 Back Road has attracted renters thanks in part to its proximity to Long Beach Island, Walters said, along with high-end amenities such as a modern fitness center, a children’s tot lot, a basketball court and a community clubhouse with computer workstations.
The collection of two- and three-bedroom units is restricted to residents who earn 60 percent or less of the area’s median income on a gross basis.
“Having access to affordable homes can change lives — it means better schools, better health and more financial stability for families,” said Joe Del Duca, partner and director of affordable housing for Walters. “There’s a strong, ongoing demand for affordable housing, and we’re proud to have added a new option to meet that need in the community.”
In addition to managing the property, Walters provides on-site supportive services such as after-school programs, special interest clubs, career readiness, a food pantry program, eviction prevention and social services assistance, according to a news release. Aside from nearby beaches, residents have easy access to local shopping areas, dining and entertainment.
