Development firm Walters has leased up its new 150-unit age- and income-restricted multifamily property along a key throughfare in Somerset County.
The milestone at the two-building complex, located at the corner of Old York Road and Route 202, follows the early 2023 completion of what’s known as Cornerstone at Branchburg. The developer noted that the property includes two three-story buildings with energy-efficient one- and two-bedroom apartments, adding that it serves renters age 55 and older.
“We are thrilled that our newest apartment development — with its modern amenities and services — was so well-received by the community,” said Joseph Del Duca, partner and director of affordable housing for Walters. “Its success illustrates sustained demand for age-restricted affordable housing in the marketplace, and we are pleased to have contributed a new option.”
Situated on nearly 12 acres, Cornerstone at Branchburg has amenities such as a modern fitness center, computer workstations, a pool table and outdoor areas with gas grills. Residents also have access to support services and programs that make for a maintenance-free lifestyle and a healthy living experience.
The Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey recently recognized Walters with eight industry awards, including the highly coveted Community of the Year, according to a news release. Meantime, the New Jersey Apartment Association honored Cornerstone at Branchburg with the award for Best Curb Appeal.
Rental rates at Cornerstone at Branchburg are income-restricted with all the units available to those who earn 60 percent or less of the area’s median income, the news release. Rates are based on the renter’s gross annual income, according to the rent and income requirements chart.
