Walters Group has started construction on an 88-unit, multifamily development in Jackson, one of a series of Jersey Shore and South Jersey residential projects underway for the firm.
Located at 100 Mallard Court, the community known as The Ponds at Jackson 21 is slated to be complete by October 2018. Occupancy is slated to begin next March.
Made up of 11 two-story apartment buildings, the 10-acre community is also part of a mixed-use development being installed in stages by various developers, the firm said in a news release. The property will feature apartments ranging from one- to three-bedroom units, providing income-restricted housing that gives priority to residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy, in accordance with the funding guidelines of the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit program.
“This is an exciting development that will benefit the entire community by increasing the inventory of high-quality housing for people from all walks of life,” said Ed Walters Jr., president and founder of Walters Group. “Green building is another quality-of-life aspect that we address by integrating green, healthy, and cost effective measures into all of our residential developments.”
Each apartment will feature private entrances and upgraded interior finishes, Walters Group said. Residents will have access to a large community clubhouse equipped with computer work stations and a fitness center.
Walters Group has designed the project to achieve certification from both the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design scale from the U.S. Green Building Council and Energy Star rating systems.
