Walters is eyeing a fall delivery for a new 34-unit affordable housing project in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township.
According to the firm, the two-building property at 200 Back Road will include one-, two- and three-bedroom homes with amenities such as a modern fitness center, a children’s tot lot, a basketball court and a community clubhouse with computer workstations. The developer recently completed the initial housing lottery for what’s known as Cornerstone at Grassy Hollow II, which sits just off Route 9 and the Garden State Parkway, noting that the robust interest reflects sustained affordable housing demand within the local market.
“Creating high-quality affordable housing that meets the needs of residents is a real positive for this beautiful community of Manahawkin,” said Joe Del Duca, partner and director of affordable housing for Barnegat-based Walters.
In a news release this week, Walters said the project’s first building is slated to be complete by mid-September. The second is scheduled for November.
In addition to managing the property, the firm will provide on-site supportive services and year-round resources such as after-school programs, special interest clubs, career readiness, a food pantry program, eviction prevention and social services assistance. Residents, meantime, will have quick access to local shopping, dining and entertainment, as well as beaches and many other options for recreation.
