Weiss Properties will develop 240 apartments, a 104-room Marriott Town Place Suites hotel and restaurant space at the intersection of Route 130 and Cedar Lane in Florence Township, the New Brunswick-based firm announced.
The Florence Township Planning Board approved the plan in June, according to a news release. New Jersey Department of Transportation approval of the plan is expected in the next five to six months.
“At the suggestion of NJDOT, the construction of a $1 million roundabout on Cedar Lane, paid for by Weiss Properties, will serve as a replacement for the existing jug handle and will alleviate the current traffic issues in that area,” said Robert Weiss, president of Weiss Properties.
The residential portion of the development will consist of 240 rental apartments, of which 15 percent will be set aside for affordable housing. The development will also include a large clubhouse that will consist of a fully equipped professional gym, pool, yoga center, multipurpose room, an Amazon Package System, retention pond and recycling center.
The 104-room Marriott Town Place Suites will have a restaurant located next to it.
“We have determined that there is a strong demand in this area for an extended stay hotel that will service many of the large companies such as Amazon, Subaru and Burlington Coat factory” said Yoni Nevenansky, Weiss Properties senior vice president.
Groundbreaking is expected to take place in early 2020, Weiss Properties said.
