Construction is set to begin on more than 500,000 square feet of new industrial space in Burlington County, the latest piece of a developer’s fast-growing portfolio in the state.
The contractor, Peak Construction Corp., is working on behalf of Black Creek Group at the speculative project along Front Street in Florence. Site work is now underway, the firm said, noting that delivery is slated for early 2022 for what’s known as Florence Turnpike Crossings West.
Plans call for modern distribution space with flexibility for two offices, 36-foot clear ceiling heights, 92 dock doors, two drive-in doors, 95 trailer stalls and 434 car stalls, according to a news release. Peak, which is based in Des Plaines, Illinois, is teamed with construction manager Avison Young, architect Ware Malcomb and civil engineer Menlo Engineering Associates Inc.
The development will rise across from another Black Creek project in the township, according to the Burlington County Times. It is also repurposing a formerly blighted industrial property, capitalizing on a location near the New Jersey Turnpike and other highways.
Black Creek, which is based in Denver, has ramped up its pipeline in New Jersey in recent years, with a heavy focus on towns along the Turnpike in Burlington and Mercer counties. Earlier this year, Black Creek inked leases of 100,170 and 300,700 square feet at newly built facilities in Burlington and Florence, respectively.
