Vango Development has launched leasing at 60 new luxury apartments in downtown Rutherford, in the second piece of a project just two blocks from the borough’s train station.
The firm last week welcomed local officials to mark the opening of the building, at 118 Park Ave., where it’s marketing a collection of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes and new street-level retail space. They’re now available for immediate occupancy alongside the development’s first phase at 106 Park Ave., which opened in 2019 with 52 rental units and 5,000 square feet of retail space.
Monthly rents at the new building, designed by Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, start from $2,370.
“The completion of The Parker is an excellent addition to our downtown,” Rutherford Mayor Frank Nunziato said. “I’d like to thank everyone who worked on this project to make it a great fit for Rutherford and look forward to the future as its residents become patrons of our local businesses.”
With amenities curated by The Childs Dreyfus Group, The Parker 118 has a private entrance and lobby but is connected to the initial Parker building via a shared landscaped courtyard, according to a news release. Perks for residents include lounge seating, fire pits, grills, foosball and ping pong tables and a bar with a shade canopy.
Indoor amenities include a high-end fitness center, a co-working lounge and a resident lounge and club room with billiards, shuffleboard and large-screen TVs.
“We thank Mayor Nunziato for joining us today to celebrate the opening of The Parker 118 and appreciate the continued confidence of Rutherford’s municipal administration in our efforts to enhance the downtown and contribute to the residential landscape,” Van Golemis, the principal of Vango Development, said in prepared remarks for the June 8 ribbon-cutting ceremony. “Rutherford has become a highly desired living destination, blending a friendly small-town environment with the energy of a downtown setting and convenient access to Manhattan.
“The success of the initial phase of The Parker showcases its appeal, and we are delighted to expand the overall lifestyle with new apartments and amenities.”
Retail tenants at the first phase include Steven’s Café and Song’E Napule, the popular pizzeria and trattoria that made history last month as the first Rutherford business to obtain a liquor license since the late 1800s. The new building’s 3,000 square feet of retail space will be home to The Salad House and a high-end salon.
Both businesses and residents are steps from the Rutherford train station and one stop from Secaucus Junction, which provides easy access to both New York Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal. The Parker, meantime, is a short drive from the region’s vast highway network via routes 3 and 17.
