Seagis Property Group has secured a new tenant in Newark, leasing nearly 20,000 square feet of industrial space to a division of America’s largest family-owned variety baker.
According to The Blau & Berg Co., which represented the tenant, the facility at 136-158 Paris St. will provide high-capacity loading infrastructure for Schmidt Baking Distribution LLC, meeting a critical need for its high-volume bread and baked goods distribution model. With 14 dock door openings and direct access to Route 1&9 and the New Jersey Turnpike, the building allows the tenant to efficiently service its growing customer base across the greater Newark corridor and broader Northeast market.
Blau & Berg’s Matthew Phillips, Rick Vanderbeck and Hugh Nastasi arranged the 19,965-square-foot lease on behalf of Schmidt, part of the H&S Family of Bakeries. The firm noted that the Baltimore-based and family-owned business, with 10 bakeries and 30 distribution centers across the eastern seaboard, provides large-scale, custom baked goods production to major industry retailers and food service accounts, supported by an integrated distribution and merchandising network spanning four generations of family leadership.
