Quest Diagnostics has extended its 131,000-square-foot lease at a Secaucus office building, in the largest of several first-quarter deals by landlord Signature Acquisitions.
The global medical diagnostics company, a tenant at 500 Plaza Drive since 2016, will continue to anchor the 465,000-square-foot property at the junction of Route 3 and the New Jersey Turnpike and just four miles from Manhattan. The 11-story building is now more than 75 percent occupied thanks to the long-term extension and two other deals announced last week by Signature Acquisitions, including:
- A new 8,700-square-foot lease with Retarus, a German software company that is relocating its primary North American office to the building
- A new 7,300-square-foot commitment by the New Jersey Education Association, which is consolidating several smaller offices
Part of the iconic, mixed-use Harmon Meadow complex, 500 Plaza provides tenants with walkable access to a vast selection of retail, lodging and dining options. They’re also minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel and other destinations in northern New Jersey.
JLL’s David Stifelman and Tim Greiner represented the landlord in the three recent leases. CBRE’s David Opper, Conor Dolan and David Zelinski represented Quest, while Curtis Foster and Jerry Shifrin of Cushman & Wakefield represented Retarus and Dan Reider and Jack Barclay of Newmark represented NJEA.
“The decision of Quest’s leadership to renew their lease at 500 Plaza is a testament to our success at providing a responsive, white-glove level of service to leading global companies, in the kind of walkable location that isn’t commonly found in the suburban office landscape,” said Sandy Monaghan, senior vice president of Signature Acquisitions.
Constructed in 1985, the building benefits from a major upgrade completed by prior ownership, according to a news release Signature, which acquired the property in 2025, said it continues to build on that foundation while maintaining the asset with JLL as its leasing team.
The firms are marketing two remaining blocks of space, both full-floor opportunities on the second and fifth floors, the news release said. Signature Acquisitions said it anticipates continued strong interest, particularly from companies seeking high-quality buildings close to New York City and a diverse labor pool in a suburban location, with on-site amenities such as a fitness center with locker rooms, a conference center, a barista and a full-service cafeteria.
“For companies seeking space in the Meadowlands submarket, nothing checks all the boxes in terms of location, building quality, attentive property management and engaged, well-capitalized ownership, as effectively as 500 Plaza Drive,” Stifelman said. “It’s a coveted address with above-standard infrastructure that’s strategically located, with the type of amenity package that tenants demand.”
