TFE Properties has completed a new townhome-style rental property Somerville, a milestone it marked last month after delivering the final piece of the multiphase project.
The developer on June 9 welcomed community leaders, local officials and project partners to unveil what’s known as Kirby Village, a 174-unit complex just north of NJ Transit’s Raritan Valley line and minutes from the borough’s downtown. That provided a look at a site that welcomed its first residents in mid-2024 but is now fully built-out, offering a mix of one- and two-bedroom floorplans and amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool, a modern fitness center, a playground and many others designed to enhance their lifestyles.
“Kirby Village is a unique, townhome-style community with great amenities and provides a park-like feel,” said Carey Tajfel, president of TFE Properties. “There’s a number of other great projects in downtown Somerville, and I’m proud of the fact that Somerville has something for everybody. This project reflects the collaborative efforts of our partners, local officials and dedicated team members who worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality.”
Among those in attendance was Mayor Brian Gallagher, as well as many employees from TFE and Hotels Unlimited who helped bring the project at 50 Kirby Ave. to life. Those efforts were on display at a property that was all but fully leased at the time — in a location minutes from Interstate 287, routes 202 and 206 and several NJ Transit train stations.
“One of the caveats we have when we create developments in Somerville, is we want to create additional neighborhoods,” Gallagher said. “Either part of the fabric of the existing neighborhood or create a new neighborhood, and when you walk through Kirby Village it is a neighborhood. So, I want to thank you for believing and investing in Somerville.”
