Alpine Residential and Fields Grade have leased more than 75 percent of their new 39-unit luxury apartment building in Jersey City, the firms announced last week.
Known as Starling, the property at 66 Monitor St. hit the market in January as one of the latest additions to the resurgent Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood. The development team has since welcomed residents while unveiling amenities such as a rooftop lounge, an outdoor dining and seating area, a high-end fitness center, coworking spaces and an indoor golf simulator, while offering services such as the on-demand smart rental store known as Tulu.
Monthly rents for the apartments start from $2,787, with incentives, for a mix of floorplans ranging from studios to three-bedroom homes.
“Starling has effectively tapped into a pool of renters who want to enjoy the vibrancy and spirit of downtown apartment living in homes with a tremendous amount of space, style and comfort,” said Todd Schefler, managing partner of Alpine Residential. “We are seeing high interest from all walks of life, whether someone looking to establish roots in this neighborhood or others who want to significantly upgrade their apartment lifestyle.”
South Oxford Management, an affiliate of Alpine Residential, is handling leasing and management at the six-story building. Aside from its residential space, Starling has street-level retail options including The Roxy, a new restaurant from some of the team behind Corto in Jersey City Heights, which will soon be joined by MochiDough/BoberTea, a premium Japanese donut and bubble tea shop.
“This amenity package has been perfectly designed to fit the boutique lifestyle at Starling,” said Rob Giannone, director of development for Fields Grade. “We’ve created modern, well-appointed recreational and social spaces where residents can expand their living spaces, whether it’s working, relaxing or enjoying an athletic activity. It’s the perfect complement to the ultra-luxe apartments.”
Located about a half-mile from Liberty State Park, the GRT Architects-designed project has a preserved building façade with a double-height lobby that has reclaimed trusses and wood finishes salvaged from its original structure. The elements were also repurposed to craft furniture found throughout the property’s common spaces, they said, while the building’s collection of artwork showcases Jersey City’s street art scene and books from local authors.
Alpine added that many homes have private balconies with uninterrupted views of the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Harbor, Liberty State Park and Manhattan. Meantime, renters will be just west of downtown Jersey City and steps from Bergen-Lafayette’s many restaurants, bars, shops and parks, which have helped fuel much of the neighborhood’s recent development, as has the connections available via NJ Transit’s Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.
