The first renters have arrived at a new 39-unit apartment building in Jersey City’s Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood, following the launch of leasing earlier this year.
Its developers, Alpine Residential and Fields Grade, announced Tuesday that occupancy is underway at what’s known as Starling. The six-story property at 66 Monitor St. hit the market in January, offering floorplans ranging from studio to three bedrooms with monthly rents starting from $2,595 and a series of upscale amenities.
South Oxford Management, an affiliate of Alpine Residential, is handling leasing and management for the building.
“We are proud to welcome our first residents to Starling,” said Todd Schefler, managing partner of Alpine Residential. “Our initial move-ins have truly brought this beautiful building to life. The early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive as residents embrace boutique living in a lively neighborhood that’s quickly filling up with delectable food and dining options, quaint cafes, nightlife and community services and amenities.”
Located about a half-mile from Liberty State Park, the GRT Architects-designed project has a preserved building façade with a double-height lobby that has reclaimed trusses and wood finishes salvaged from its original structure. The elements were also repurposed to craft furniture found throughout the property’s common spaces, they said, while the building’s collection of artwork showcases Jersey City’s street art scene and books from local authors.
Amenities include a rooftop lounge, an outdoor dining and seating area, a modern fitness center, coworking spaces and a golf simulator, according to a news release. Residents will also have access to a host of on-site services and Bergen-Lafayette’s selection of recreational spaces, small businesses and proximity to downtown Jersey City.
Meantime, Starling’s street-level retail spaces will soon be home to MochiDough/BoberTea, a premium Japanese donut and bubble tea shop, and The Roxy, a new venture from some of the team behind Corto in Jersey City Heights.
