A fast casual burger chain is set to anchor the ground-floor retail space at a recently built, luxury apartment building in downtown Bloomfield, following a deal brokered by Ripco Real Estate.
The brokerage firm announced that BGR, or Burgers Grilled Right, has leased 2,245 square feet at The Green at Bloomfield, a 140-unit property at Broad and Liberty streets. The restaurant will be operated by SanFam LLC, marking the second location in New Jersey for the Washington, D.C.-based concept.
Ira Kerner and David Townes, retail leasing specialists with Ripco, identified the tenant and negotiated the lease on behalf of the developers, BNE Real Estate Group and MCP Real Estate, according to a news release. They are marketing one additional space at The Green, which opened last fall.

“We are thrilled to bring the BGR brand to another location in northern New Jersey,” the Sannitti family, BGR’s franchisee, said in a prepared statement. “Our previous opening in South Orange received a tremendous reception, exceeding our expectations, and we anticipate a warm response from the Bloomfield community.”
A report last week by NJ.com said the location could open as soon as the fall. According to Ripco, the restaurant will be adjacent to the Bloomfield College campus and just a short walk from an NJ Transit rail stop, serving an area with a population of 300,000 and 94,000 employees within a three-mile radius of the site.
“There is high demand for quality locations in northern New Jersey, and The Green offers retailers tremendous exposure to a vibrant downtown and college campus,” Ripco said.
