An Italian bakery and café has opened on the ground floor of The Rail at Red Bank, Denholtz Properties’ 57-unit luxury apartment building adjacent to the borough’s NJ Transit station.
The operator, Filoncino Café, occupies 2,500 square feet at the property and offers more than 120 sandwich options, fresh baked goods, desserts and Italian specialty items, according to a news release. The space at 111 Bridge Ave. is the second store for the Staten Island-based business, following its lease at the property that was announced early last year.
Filoncino Cafe joins a growing roster of tenants at The Rail at Red Bank, including its first retail tenant, a juice, smoothie and acai bowl shop known as Melonhead, Denholtz said. Earlier this year, award-winning cosmetic dentist Dr. Todd Goldstein opened a practice known as The Smile Aesthetic, while Hydraderm Spa will open this summer as the property’s final retail tenant.
“Our latest lease with Filoncino Cafe highlights the continued excitement around the West Side community,” said Kristine B. Hurlbut, senior vice president of leasing at Denholtz Properties. “We see tremendous potential for Red Bank’s West Side neighborhood and are excited to play a part in making it a reality by attracting businesses like Filoncino Cafe.”
Denholtz, which is based next door, completed The Rail in 2022 as part of a plan to activate Red Bank’s lesser-known West Side neighborhood. Its plan also included the renovation of an adjacent 29,404-square-foot office building, with both projects designed by Rotwein+Blake, while the developer is also a dedicated supporter of area nonprofits such as Lunch Break, a Red Bank organization providing food, clothing and other services to those in need, as well as the Two River Theater and the Count Basie Center for the Arts.
