Greek Real Estate Partners is marking another Earth Day after having completed its annual cleanup event in the industrial park around its East Brunswick headquarters.
According to the firm, more than 50 team members participated in collecting trash along Kimberly Road, covering 1.5 miles and filling some 85 bags of trash during the recent program. That meant cleaning more than just typical roadside litter, GREP said, noting that its staff found abandoned suitcases, signs, mattresses, propane tanks, tires, furniture and other items.
It was the fourth time the company held the event as part of its focus on sustainability.
“There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing our team come together to make a meaningful impact in the community,” said Danielle Mogilski, office manager at GREP. “We’re committed to incorporating sustainability into our workplace and everyday lives, making a difference that goes beyond any one person or project. Our annual cleanup event is a powerful reminder of how collective action can support both our community and the environment.”
GREP also reinforces sustainability through monthly in-office campaigns, such as hosting a K-Cycle Challenge in which its team recycles more than 350 K-cups, as well as No Waste Wednesdays, where the staff is given tips to help encourage environmentally friendly at-home practices, according to a news release. The company, meantime, provides employees with reusable mugs, shopping bags and gardening gloves to help cut down on single-use plastics.
It also invests in renewable energy, having recently completed a lease of 1.3 million square feet of rooftop space across 15 buildings for New Jersey’s Community Solar Energy Program, the news release said. Additionally, the company’s third-party construction division, Greek Design|Build, is scheduled this summer to complete a cold storage facility in Mount Laurel for joint owners RLCold and BGO, which it said will hold gold certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design scale.
