A developer has closed on a parcel in northern Hudson County where it plans to build a 133-unit apartment tower with views of Manhattan, brokers with Grid Real Estate LLC announced.
The firm, Echevarria Industries, paid $5.75 million for the 0.46-acre tract at 6600 River Road in West New York, according to a news release. Its plans call for an 11-story building with rooftop green terraces, indoor and outdoor pools, a community lounge, a theater room, a business center and a high-end fitness center, among other amenities.
Grid Real Estate noted that the builder received site plan approval last fall and recently submitted an application to local officials to tear down the existing commercial building on the property.
“We are excited to have worked on this redevelopment project with Echevarria Industries,” said Bob Antonicello, a principal of Grid Real Estate in Jersey City. “E Residences on the Hudson, will be a welcomed addition to the north Hudson skyline and luxury rental market and will offer residents a luxurious lifestyle with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline.”
In announcing the deal, Grid noted that the existing two-story structure spans 18,794 square feet. It sits in the shadow of Galaxy Towers and The Versailles, two of North Hudson’s best-known residential developments, providing an opportunity in a submarket with dwindling land opportunities.
Echevarria Industries is based in nearby North Bergen.
