Two new tenants are coming to a North Brunswick shopping center after leasing a combined 4,750 square feet at the property, agents with Levin Management Corp. announced Tuesday.
In the larger deal, halal smokehouse Kanoon restaurant has taken 3,250 square feet at the Brunswick Shopping Center on Milltown Road, according to a news release. The eatery marks the second Garden State location for owner-operator Mohammad Yousuf Bhuri, who opened his first Kanoon restaurant earlier this year in Clifton.
LMC Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Fernandez-Kelty and Leasing Representative Fred Younkin represented ownership at the 288,000-square-foot property off Route 1.
“Kanoon already has a loyal following, and the concept is a terrific fit for the property and neighborhood,” Younkin said. “We are pleased to have accommodated their space needs at Brunswick Shopping Center, and are confident Kanoon’s presence will diversify the local dining scene and be a terrific draw for local restaurant goers.”
The LMC team also completed the second deal, a 1,500-square-foot commitment by tax preparer H&R Block, which was represented by Ryan Feldman of Alliance Retail Development.
“H&R Block complements the center’s existing service-oriented tenants and undoubtedly will be a valuable amenity for many consumers,” Fernandez-Kelty said.
In announcing the deals, LMC noted that Kanoon is the first halal smokehouse in New Jersey, offering American barbeque with a Middle Eastern twist. The menu features expertly smoked and grilled meats, infused with aromatic spices.
“Many of our current patrons come from central New Jersey, making Brunswick Shopping Center the perfect choice for Kanoon’s growth,” said Bhuri, the business’ owner. “Guests can expect the same delicious, high-quality food, warm hospitality and great experience that has made our Clifton restaurant so popular. We are looking forward to serving new and existing customers from this North Brunswick location.”
Anchored by a Lidl supermarket, Brunswick Shopping Center is also home to a newly renovated LA Fitness, Dollar Tree, McDonald’s, Sherwin Williams and several other tenants. LMC said the complex serves a growing residential population of more than 280,000 residents within a five-mile radius, adding that it’s close to both Rutgers and DeVry universities.
