An industrial equipment distributor has purchased the site of a shuttered restaurant in Union County, brokers with NAI DiLeo-Bram & Co. announced Friday.
The real estate services firm represented the buyer, an undisclosed company based in Italy, in its acquisition of the former Blackthorn Restaurant & Irish Pub at 651 North Michigan Ave. in Kenilworth. The buyer is a distributor of telehandlers, which are heavy duty industrial vehicles used for lifting and moving large loads.
“We are pleased to have represented our client, in this transaction,” said Rich Goski, a vice president with Piscataway-based NAI DiLeo-Bram. “There was a great amount of interest in this ‘bank-owned’ property from several buyers due to its location on a two-acre parcel of land, which is difficult to find in this area, along with its immediate access to major highways.”
Goski brokered the sale alongside Catherine Goski, an associate with the firm, while Steve Batista of Jeffrey Realty represented the seller. In a news release, the brokers noted that similarly sized properties close to the Newark and Elizabeth area do not come on the market very often, have become extremely expensive and usually sell very quickly.
“This property was a perfect fit for this client, and we were fortunate to help them secure this site,” Catherine Goski said. “Focusing a significant amount of our time in Union and Essex Counties, enabled us to immediately identify and introduce this property to this client and provide them with the necessary information to be able to react promptly in this competitive situation.”
