A mini-burger chain has committed to its first New Jersey location in New Brunswick, in one of three retail leases in the city announced by JLL.
The firm said it leased a combined 5,936 square feet at 37 Easton Ave., an 18,000-square-foot, two-story building owned by Saxum Real Estate LLC. The deals include Burgerim Gourmet Burgers’ 2,163-square-foot transaction, while The Halal Guys and Frutta Bowls LLC leased 1,906 square feet and 1,867 square feet, respectively.
JLL Senior Vice President Marta Person Villa represented the landlord, working closely with Saxum Real Estate’s Anthony Rinaldi and Matt Wassel.
Home Quest Properties Corp. represented Burgerim, a quickly expanding Israeli chain. CBRE Senior Vice President Jay Miller represented The Halal Guys, a halal fast casual restaurant franchise, while Legacy Commercial Realty CEO Seth Katz represented Frutta Bowls.
Burgerim and The Halal Guys each signed 10-year leases, while Frutta Bowls committed to a five-year term, JLL said in a news release. They join the tenant roster at 37 Easton Ave., which Saxum acquired in 2017.
The investor and developer now plans to re-tenant the property and make significant interior and exterior upgrades. Saxum is now marketing the second floor to office users, providing unique and creative space with expansive ceiling heights and a newly improved window line, which allows users an abundance of natural light.
Both JLL and Saxum touted the property’s location in downtown New Brunswick, a thriving business, medical and education hub, and its proximity to the New Brunswick train station and Rutgers University.
