The New Jersey Bankers Association has appointed Kearny Bank’s top executive as second vice chair of its board of directors.
Craig L. Montanaro, CEO and president of the Fairfield-based lender, joined the company in 2003 and was appointed to his current post in April 2011, according to a news release. He also serves as president and on the board of the KearnyBank Foundation, while he is chair of the Chilton Hospital Foundation, on the board of New Jersey Junior Achievement and as a trustee of the Wood-Ridge Memorial Foundation.
“Having someone with Craig’s experience serving in a leadership role will elevate our efforts and ability to accomplish many of the goals we’ve set for the organization,” said Michael Affuso, CEO and president of NJBankers.
Kearny Bank’s footprint covers most of New Jersey, along with Brooklyn and Staten Island.
“I take great pride in being a banker, so I very much appreciate this opportunity to assume a leadership role on the New Jersey Bankers Association board,” Montanaro said. “This organization has a long history of effective advocacy on behalf of our state’s banking sector, and I’m eager to support this mission as a representative of Kearny Bank and our clients.”
