Accounting and consulting giant KPMG has marked the start of construction at a new technology center in Montvale, an 81,000-square-foot extension of its longtime footprint in the borough.
The property, located at 75 Chestnut Ridge Road, will occupy an existing building adjacent to KPMG’s current 281,000-square-foot central campus, according to a news release. The project calls for a facility with electronic whiteboards, interactive digital communications screens, internet-enabled telephones and the latest in videoconferencing.
Plans also include an innovation area to create and test new technologies for implementation within the firm and for clients, the news release said. Completion is slated for winter 2018.
KPMG executives revealed the design of the property during a ceremony in Montvale, some five months after the firm confirmed its acquisition of the property.

The company said its flexible design will provide a mix of collaboration, meeting and individual work space as well as hub areas, quiet rooms and a café.
“KPMG’s investment in a new technology center exemplifies our firm’s focus on innovation and collaboration as critical elements of our culture and continued growth,” said David H.W. Turner, chief financial officer and Montvale office managing principal. “Bringing together more than 600 technology professionals in a world-class facility will further strengthen our ability to develop new solutions and capabilities, while creating an environment where they will be proud to work.
“We are very pleased to build upon our 30 years of success in the Montvale community with this state-of-the-art addition to our campus.”
Turner was joined by Montvale Mayor Michael Ghassali and Montvale Planning Board Chairman John DePinto, the news release said. Also on hand were KPMG employees and other guests, who celebrated the new building and the 30th anniversary of the firm’s presence in Montvale.
KPMG, which has more than 3,100 employees in Montvale, Woodcliff Lake and Short Hills, uses its presence here for mostly support organizations such as technology, human resources, marketing and finance and accounting. The firm is also planning improvements to its central campus at 3 Chestnut Ridge Road and its location at 300 Tice Boulevard in nearby Woodcliff Lake.
“KPMG has been a valued member of our Montvale business community for 30 years,” Ghassali said. “The firm’s decision to expand its presence with the construction of a leading-edge technology facility is a testament both to Montvale’s business-friendly environment and our long-standing relationship with KPMG.”
