Kushner Real Estate Group has broken ground on the second piece of a luxury multifamily project in Bayonne, with plans to deliver more than 200 additional units by late next year.
The developer said it has launched construction after a successful first phase of what’s known as Bay 151, a waterfront community rising at 151 Centre St. The initial 200-unit phase is now more than 85 percent occupied, offering a mix of upscale apartment and amenity spaces.
Phase two will bring a four-story building offering 213 rental apartments.
“We’re very excited to commence construction of the second phase of Bay 151, which has quickly proven to be one of Bayonne’s most in-demand residential developments,” said Jonathan Kushner, president of KRE Group. “Since launching leasing efforts in May, Bay 151 has welcomed a number of new residents, many of whom hail from New York City, in search of more space, robust amenities and access to public transportation—all at an attractive price point.”
Designed by Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, the three-phase project will include a total of 625 units and 10,000 square feet of retail space, KRE Group said. It’s among the latest properties to emerge from Bayonne’s growing redevelopment pipeline and represents the firm’s first project in the city, seeking to capitalize on a location near Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service and other offerings.
Apartments at Bay 151 feature luxury designs, finishes and appliances. Along with a package concierge in the lobby, the complex’s amenities include a modern fitness center and an outdoor deck with dining areas, grilling stations and a resort-style swimming pool.
Residents also have access to a library and co-working space, business center with individual workstations, WiFi-equipped lounges, billiards room with club seating, demonstration kitchen, media room and a children’s playroom, KRE said. Residents will also receive complimentary shuttle service to the Grove Street PATH station.
Other offerings include the newly launched program known as KRE Live, a virtual platform with social, fitness, entertainment and educational options for the public while social distancing requirements are in effect. The platform includes access to live-stream yoga, fitness and meditation classes by HOM.
