Architecture and engineering firm LAN Associates has promoted Matthew Webb and Ron Schwenke to the position of vice president.
The Midland Park-based practice noted that Webb, previously an assistant vice president, leads its surveying team and its Vernon office. He rises to the new post with more than two decades of experience in surveying, having joined LAN in 2001 as a high school student and going on to pursue a degree in surveying engineering technology while at the firm.
“Matt plays a major role in LAN’s success, not only by establishing the basis of many of LAN’s architecture and engineering projects by providing survey plans but also by helping drive overall company growth,” LAN President Thomas Wighard said. “His natural leadership abilities, efficiencies in delivering services, and business insights have always made our surveying department a top performer. Matt is the ideal person to take a leadership role in defining the future of LAN.”
In 2009, Webb became the director of the firm’s surveying department and subsequently grew the division to service not only LAN’s internal architecture and engineering projects but a long list of direct clients, contractors and title services companies. He is a licensed surveyor in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maine.
“I am humbled and honored to have been appointed to a leadership role in the management and growth of LAN’s practice,” Webb said. “LAN has been a part of my life since high school, and my experience with the company pointed me in the direction of pursuing a career in surveying. I look forward to contributing to the overall decision making of the company that has had such a big impact on my life.”
Schwenke, also a former assistant vice president, is the architect in charge of LAN’s Voorhees office. He joined the firm in 2018 and spearheaded its expansion to southern New Jersey and greater Philadelphia, helping to grow a team whose clientele includes more than a dozen school districts, several local townships, housing authorities and private clients.
“Ron is a key contributor to the firm’s business development strategies, including involvement in numerous business organizations, marketing efforts and fostering and maintaining client relationships,” LAN CEO Ron Panicucci said. “He understands the business side of the service industry and recognizes the importance of work product flow. His work has made LAN’s Voorhees location a thriving business, and in recognition of that, we welcome him as a new member of the officer team.”
LAN Associates noted that, in recent years, it has steadily grown its core service offerings and expanded its geographic presence. Webb and Schwenke have both played a major role in that success, the firm said, adding that its board of directors opted to promote them in mid-August to better take advantage of their leadership abilities and business acumen.
They will now work alongside the current members of the leadership team, whose positions remain unchanged.
“It was a proud day in my career when LAN entrusted me to establish a new presence in the southern New Jersey/Philadelphia region,” Schwenke said. “I welcomed the challenge of developing both a long list of clients and a team with the skill set to complete great work. During my time at LAN, I have come to understand the dedication and passion that LAN’s officers put into their work. I feel enamored by the confidence the board of directors have put in me with this promotion and look forward to both the challenges and opportunities this new position presents.”
