The developer of a new 21-story residential tower in downtown New Brunswick is on track to open next year after reaching the height of vertical construction.
Landmark Properties and Gilbane Building Co. on Tuesday announced the topping out of The Standard at New Brunswick, a planned 303,758-square-foot building at 90 New St. Designed for students and young professionals, the building will offer 186 units and 682 bedrooms, along with amenities such as study spaces, a fitness center and terraces.
“The Standard at New Brunswick is going to be an incredible addition to downtown and Rutgers communities, providing a high-quality living option for nearby students and citizens,” Landmark Properties CEO and President Wes Rogers said. “We are excited to work collaboratively with Gilbane on this project as we watch our collective vision take shape, and we look forward to welcoming residents to their new homes next year.”
Gilbane is providing construction management agency services for Landmark, noting that The Standard will have floor plan options ranging from studios to five bedrooms. The mixed-use development, which also will have 2,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, is less than a half-mile southeast of Rutgers University’s main campus.
“We are very proud to lend our expertise, alongside Landmark Properties, to this important project,” said Bill Gilbane III, a senior vice president with Gilbane. “The Standard will provide high-quality apartments and amenities to the students who will become tomorrow’s leaders and offer retail space that will serve the entire downtown community.”
Plans also call for 111 new parking spaces, Gilbane said.
