Ahead of a grand opening later this month, the developers of a new 240-unit apartment building in Jersey City have welcomed their first tenants and taken steps to ramp up their leasing effort.
The joint venture of Hartz Mountain Industries and Panepinto Properties said Wednesday that the first residents have moved into their luxury rental building, 3 Journal Square, a property located at 2935 John F. Kennedy Blvd. At the same time, the firms have unveiled a new leasing center and fully furnished studio and one-bedroom model apartments.
“With 3 Journal Square, we’ve introduced a new luxury residential option to a neighborhood that is rich in history and culture, and clearly on the move,” Gus Milano, president and chief operating officer of Hartz Mountain Industries, said in a prepared statement. “There’s an atmosphere here that appeals to a cross section of people, and we’ve enhanced that with a building that promotes a modern living experience.”
Designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve, the new 240-unit luxury rental building is located just steps from the Journal Square PATH Station. The location provides 10-minute direct rail service to Manhattan, along with other Jersey City destinations and Hoboken.
Prices start in the $1,900s for a one-bedroom apartment, according to a news release. Homes are spread throughout 12 floors, plus a penthouse level.

“We are very excited about this project and its ability to serve residents looking for quality and value,” said Joseph A. Panepinto, CEO and president of Panepinto Properties. “Journal Square, which has been the historic heart of Jersey City, is experiencing explosive growth.
“Strategically and easily accessible by rail, highway and bus transportation, from points north and southwest of the city, and only minutes from New York City, make this property attractive to New York and New Jersey commuters alike.”
Amenities and services at 3 Journal Square include a 24-hour concierge and maintenance, a modern health and fitness center, yoga studio with virtual fitness classes and resident lounge, among other features. The building also boasts a rooftop with lounge areas, a communal table, a fire pit and panoramic skyline views, along with an outdoor playground and a dog run.
