LeFrak is taking the wraps off a new 385-unit luxury apartment tower in Jersey City, the latest addition to its master-planned Newport district along the Hudson waterfront.
The developer said leasing is underway at what’s known as Bisby, which rises 34 stories at 30 Park Lane North and has floorplans ranging from studios to four-bedroom penthouses, according to a news release. Along with its upscale homes, the property has amenities such as a 33,000-square-foot rooftop with a pickleball court, outdoor fitness space, a sun deck and other spaces with sweeping views of Manhattan, as well as interior areas such as a two-level coworking center.
Residents also have access to a golf simulator, a modern fitness center and a lounge with a gaming area, among other spaces, along with bike storage and a parking garage with electric vehicle charging stations.
“Today’s renters are looking for spacious, light-filled homes complemented by curated amenities they’ll actually use,” said Richard Wernick, managing director of residential leasing for LeFrak. “Bisby offers the most sought-after amenities — a pickleball court, abundant coworking space, content recording studio — and more, all within a thriving community offering vibrant retail, green space and transportation seconds away. Bisby marks our newest residential building in Newport, and we look forward to welcoming our first residents this summer.”
Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners designed the property, which sits just north of LeFrak’s four-acre Newport Green park, while the New York studio of Woods Bagot designed the interiors. The team noted that the design draws inspiration from the concept of a beehive, seeking to evoke the bustle of contemporary life while creating a sense of community.
“Bisby was intentionally designed to cater to modern lifestyles, providing dedicated workspace separate from leisure areas,” said Krista Ninivaggi, principal at Woods Bagot and interior design lead. “We prioritized amenities to support residents seeking work-life balance, including those with flexible work-from-home arrangements or entrepreneurial pursuits. Our ground floor lobby has evolved into a dynamic co-working studio, reflecting the demand for alternative social workspaces and vital ‘third places.’ It’s poised to become a highly utilized amenity.”
The launch of leasing follows LeFrak’s recent announcement that it had signed eight new retail leases totaling nearly 27,000 square feet, which will bring several new restaurants and retailers to Newport. They’re among the latest additions to a neighborhood that has developed over 40 years and provides easy access to Jersey City’s mass transit options.
Spanning 600 acres along the Hudson River, Newport is home to some 15 residential buildings and eight office towers that provide 8 million square feet of space for major employers. The district also includes sports and wellness offerings, Newport Centre Mall, the Newport River Market, recreation and year-round community programming.
