The developers of the seven-building, 4.1 million-square-foot Linden Logistics Center are getting high marks for the project’s focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.
According to Greek Real Estate Partners, part of a group that also includes Advance Realty Investors and PGIM Real Estate, five buildings at the property have secured designations under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design scale. That’s a nod to the facilities’ modern design, eco-conscious elements and role in redeveloping a former brownfield site off Tremley Point Road and along the New Jersey Turnpike, GREP said, noting that the certification applies to 100, 200, 300, 400 and 700 Linden Logistics Way.
The designation also comes alongside a recent approval by state regulators of a new five-megawatt solar project at Building 700, according to a news release. The award by the Board of Public Utilities comes under the state’s Community Solar Energy Program, which allows landlords to lease out their roofs to solar firms for projects that sell directly to the grid.
“This achievement reflects the collaboration and dedication of our entire team, where sustainability and industrial development go hand in hand,” said Matthew Schlindwein, managing partner of GREP’s Design|Build Division. “We are excited to continue leading the way for eco-conscious projects that benefit businesses, communities and the environment.”
Advance, Greek and PGIM broke ground on Linden Logistics Center in 2019, kicking off a project that has transformed and cleaned up a highly contaminated former manufacturing property that once housed the likes of DuPont, GAF and American Cyanamid. Five years later, the site is home to a cluster of new, high-end warehouses and distribution centers that GREP said incorporate advanced energy-efficient systems, sustainable materials and a design that significantly reduces its carbon footprint.
“Vanguard Logistics values environmental sustainability, and we are happy to occupy this LEED-certified building and to have a landlord that shares our values on environmental stewardship,” said Karl Laufer, regional vice president at Vanguard Logistics Services, which occupies 400 Linden Logistics Way.
Frank McCleneghen, president of Active Solar Development, added: “Linden Logistics Center stands as a model for community-oriented sustainable development. This project supports current tenants with best-in-class technology while positioning the facility to accommodate future needs.”
