A Filipino grocer is expanding in northern New Jersey with a new 16,000-square-foot lease in Clifton, in a transaction announced by Levin Management Corp.
The real estate services firm said Friday that FilStop will open its second New Jersey store at Clifton Plaza, a 95,000-square-foot center at Route 46 and Van Houten Avenue. The expansion comes more than 40 years after the operator, which sells authentic Filipino food in-store and online, opened its original location in Jersey City.
LMC Leasing Representative Vanessa Fernandez arranged the long-term lease on behalf of ownership. Anthony and Eugene Rivera of Pure Properties represented the tenant.
“The addition of FilStop is significant both for Clifton Plaza and the community at large,” Fernandez said. “This grocer has experienced exponential growth in recent years and serves a niche customer base all along the East Coast.
“FilStop will drive additional consumer traffic to benefit its co-tenants at Clifton Plaza while providing a larger and centrally located store for the brand’s loyal shoppers.”
The business sells products ranging from steamed, hot food to go to grocery items such as rice, noodles, spices and soups, LMC said. In its newest location, it joins operators such as Big Lots, Blink Fitness, Dollar Tree, Dunkin Donuts and others.
