Bennett Realty & Development has hired Dan Casiero as vice president of leasing and redevelopment, the Holmdel-based firm announced Thursday.
According to a news release, Casiero brings more than 30 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry and a network of landlords and tenants that spans national brands, regional operators and local businesses. He began his career at Helmsley Spear before going on to serve as a key player for The Briad Group, where he led site selection for Wendy’s and TGI Friday’s across the Northeast markets, negotiating contracts of sale and land leases, working with national and local landlords and representing the franchise operator at municipal planning board meetings to secure development approvals.
Casiero also spent 18 years at Forest City Enterprises in Brooklyn, serving as a vice president of development and managing a diverse 4.7 million-square-foot retail portfolio across 18 properties, the news release said. As project manager for ground-up developments, he led the creation of large-format retail centers, including Ridge Hill in Yonkers, New York, Atlantic Terminal and Atlantic Center in Brooklyn and Queens Place.
“I met Dan while he was at Forest City Enterprises and responsible for the leasing of some of New York’s most dynamic new developments,” said Tyler Bennett, CEO of Bennett Realty & Development. “We clicked right away and became friends. With Dan’s resume, he could have landed anywhere, and I am honored he chose our platforms to further advance his career. There are few in this business with his experience and knowledge. Dan continues our ‘Good Humans First’ growth plan.”
BR&D added that Casiero has worked on the real estate team at Gap Inc., where he was responsible for brands such as Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy throughout the New York metro area. Most recently, he was a vice president of retail leasing for Steiner NYC LLC, where he oversaw leasing operations for the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a Wegmans-anchored center in Brooklyn, as well as other multilevel retail spaces in both Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The Hanover resident will now focus on landlord leasing assignments, including ground-up development assignments and redevelopment opportunities throughout the New Jersey and New York region.
“I’m delighted to start with BR&D,” Casiero said. “What attracted me to the firm was my relationship with Tyler Bennett and his vision to grow BR&D, the company’s dynamic value-based approach and diversity in leasing and sales, as well as ownership opportunities. Few firms can say that.”
