Rouse Properties CEO Brian Harper will headline this year’s industry awards dinner at Monmouth University, an annual event that draws hundreds of New Jersey’s top real estate executives and service professionals.
Harper, whose firm is a partner in the planned redevelopment of the Monmouth Mall, will receive the university’s Leadership Excellence Award at the May 30 event. The gathering will mark the 25th year of the popular dinner in West Long Branch, which is hosted by Monmouth’s Kislak Real Estate Institute and raises money for scholarships.
“We are very excited for our 25th annual Leadership Excellence Award Dinner at Monmouth University,” said Peter Reinhart, director of the Kislak Real Estate Institute. “Having Brian Harper, the CEO of the Rouse Companies, one of the longest tenured real estate companies and an early pioneer of large scale real estate projects, is a special treat.
“We look forward to having many of our prior honorees in attendance at this premier networking opportunity as we celebrate and support real estate education in New Jersey.”
Harper, whose company is owned by affiliates of Brookfield Asset Management, has been an executive with the New York-based firm since 2011 and its CEO for nearly two years. The company owns more than 25 million square feet of mall and retail space across 21 states and has partnered with the Kushner Cos. in its bid to reposition the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.
Since the partnership was announced last year, Rouse has reportedly taken the lead in the plan. The proposal is now working its way through the Eatontown planning board.
Last year’s awards dinner at Monmouth drew a registered crowd of more than 500.
