CycleBar has opened the doors to a new 2,500-square-foot studio in downtown Montclair.
The new business, located at 656 Bloomfield Ave., is part of the mixed-use Valley & Bloom development at the corner of Valley Road in the township. It offers a full-body workout space with audio, video and lighting technology on 50 custom bikes, each with a personal data monitor that tracks personal rider metrics and performance.
The owner of CycleBar Montclair, Macelon D’Sa, recently welcomed local officials to mark the grand opening of the space, which he says offers a high-energy workout in a concert-like atmosphere.
“I love Montclair because of its diverse, forward-thinking community. The vibrant area is full of warm, accepting, passionate individuals who want to make a difference,” D’Sa said in a prepared statement. “These attributes are also the fabric of CycleBar’s culture, making it a perfect fit.”
CycleBar was founded in 2014 and is the only premium indoor cycling franchise in the country, according to a news release. The fast-growing franchise has more than 145 locations, eight of which are in northern New Jersey.
The Montclair location offers monthly memberships and a pay-per-class model, the news release said. Concierge service and amenities include post-ride snacks and water, complimentary showers, towels, lockers and shoes.
“We are very excited that CycleBar has set up shop in Montclair,” Mayor Robert Jackson said. “It’s a great way for the community to get into shape, and we are proud to welcome them to our downtown.”
He also praised the business for sponsoring healthy community events such as the recent 2017 Montclair Bread Co. 5K Doughnut Run. CycleBar has also created CycleGiving, a philanthropic movement that partners with local organizations and charities to help them raise donations.
“At the heart of CycleBar is our passion for giving back and getting involved in the community,” said Rebecca Keszkowski, head of marketing and partnerships at CycleBar Montclair. “We recently partnered with Fleet Feet in Montclair to co-host a fundraiser supporting hurricane relief in Puerto Rico, and are sponsoring the Montclair Bread Co.’s 5K Doughnut Run, which supports the Montclair Policemen’s Benevolent Association.”
Israel Cronk, executive director of the Montclair Center Business Improvement District, noted that the town now has “a booming fitness scene,” also including CrossFit, yoga, barre classes and Pilates.
