The owner of what will be an electric truck charging lot in Newark has tapped Cushman & Wakefield as its leasing agent, in what brokers describe as a first for the New Jersey market.
According to the team, the facility at 1-23 Tompkins Point Road is slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2024. At that time, Axis Electrified will offer an array of chargers serving both individual trucks and fleets, serving everything from public operators to multifamily property owners.
Cushman’s Bill Waxman, Mindy Lissner, Jeff Volpi and Chris Griffith will lead the leasing team, noting that the site is within a five-minute drive of Newark Liberty International Airport, an eight-minute drive of Port of Newark-Elizabeth and less than 25 minutes from Midtown Manhattan.
“We are thrilled to be working with Axis Electrified to lease New Jersey’s first high-end electric truck charging lot, a strategically located property with direct access to Route 21, Route 9 and the New Jersey Turnpike,” Volpi said. “This unique location offers a versatile supply chain solution for both northern New Jersey and New York City, making it an ideal choice for last-mile ecommerce operations.”
The leasing team described the offerings as follows:
- Eight ABB Terra 124 L3 chargers, an all-in-one offering that can power up to 120 kW, with convenient charging times for every electric vehicle, including those with HV batteries
- 60 Terra AC Wallbox UL L2 chargers, which are built to deliver optimized charging for fleets, public operators, commercial facilities, workplaces and multifamily residences
In a separate news release, The Blau & Berg Co. announced that it represented both parties in the sale of the 1.42-acre property. The firm’s Laura Crimmins completed the deal on the buyer’s behalf, while Jason M. Crimmins, Alessandro (Alex) Conte and Peter J. Murano Jr. did so on behalf of the seller, 275 Pacific LLC.
“Working with Axis was a wonderful, professional experience,” said Laura Crimmins, an executive director with Blau & Berg, “They knew exactly what type of property they wanted and their focus on their specific needs resulted in a seamless process from start to finish. The location of this property is ideal for their innovative business concept, and I look forward to following their success once the facility is completed end of year.”
The new electric truck charging lot is slated to be operational in the fourth quarter of this year.
“Axis was eager to find a sizable location in close proximity to several key landmarks in the northern New Jersey and New York City area, namely the port of Newark, the New Jersey Turnpike and Newark Liberty International Airport, and we are excited about the opportunity to develop this charging facility on Tompkins Point Road that will serve all forms of electric vehicles,” Axis’ Jamie Coffin said. “Laura Crimmins and the team at Blau & Berg were great to work with, their long-standing reputation as knowledgeable brokers in this key North Jersey hub was important to us and we were pleased with their representation in this acquisition.”
