A proposal to build 14 new apartments and retail space near the Plainfield train station is moving ahead after being endorsed by the city’s planning board.
Taylor Architecture & Design, a North Plainfield-based firm, announced that the project at 522-526 Park Ave. won unanimous approval at the board’s July 2 meeting. Plans call for a five-story building at the corner of West Sixth Street, part of a newly created redevelopment zone stretching from Central Avenue to Watchung Avenue.
The mixed-use property would include six studios and eight two-bedroom units with two baths, according to a news release. Amenities include resident storage, a fitness center, a package room and a rooftop terrace, while the building also includes sustainable features for energy savings and the environment, such as a variable refrigerant flow heating and cooling system.
Brian Taylor and Italo Teixeira lead the design team for the project by 522-526 Park Avenue Urban Revival LLC.
